Concrete Canvas: The Game of Authentic New York Street Art

Created by David Abelson - Intersection Games

Concrete Canvas is an easy-to-learn family-weight strategy game for 1–4 players, blending tactical movement with the thrill of building your own street-art legacy. Each player leads a small street‑art crew navigating the city, riding subway lines, tagging walls, and completing paintings to build their artistic portfolio. Your goal isn’t just to paint — it’s also to make your mark by tagging in each of the New York boroughs until you are the most well known artist there. The city changes as players place their tag and earn more street cred, and the paths get tighter until one player finds themselves painted into a corner!

A Brief Post about Progress
17 days ago – Tue, May 19, 2026 at 06:50:25 PM

Good evening, Concrete Canvas Backers!

It has been a few weeks since I posted an update and I didn't want you to wait any longer. I only have a brief update today.

We have ahad a few latecomers but I will be discontinuing late pledging on Kickstarter before the end of the month so if you know anyone who is thinking of coming along on this journey, please let them know!

Following is a timeline of how we estimate the rest of production will go until we get to delivering games to backers. We have spent the last few weeks getting 3D sculpts finalized for the coins and the minis and negotiating pricing with the factory in China. In the next few days I will be finished preparing the Pledge Manager for you and I will send the deposit in to the factory to get the ball rolling. Please keep in mind that dates in the timeline are estimates.

I will post another update and you will receive an email, when the pledge manager is finally open. I appreciate your patience.

Campaign Wrap‑Up
about 1 month ago – Sat, May 02, 2026 at 07:31:17 AM

Concrete Canvas is officially funded, and now the real work begins.

This project has been about treating New York street art with the respect it deserves — not as decoration, not as a gimmick, but as a culture with history, boundaries, and a living community behind it. Seeing this many people rally around that tells me we’re building something that resonates beyond the tabletop space, and that’s energizing.

Next Steps

Here’s what happens next:

  • We’re finalizing numbers with our manufacturing partners
  • We’re preparing the production files for print & mold-making
  • And in about 2–3 weeks, we’ll open the pledge manager so you can confirm your order and choose any add‑ons

The goal is a clean, organized process that keeps everything moving toward production. We’ll share updates as we hit each milestone — glimpses of the proofs, manufacturing, freight — so you can follow along as the game comes to life.

Late Pledges

Late pledges will remain open until we open the Pledge Manager so, for a few more weeks, if you know anyone who might like to hop on board, save some money and help support this process while getting a really cool game, please let them know!

Thanks for backing Concrete Canvas and helping bring this project into the world. We’re excited for what’s ahead.

David Abelson

P.S. One of the add‑ons in the pledge manager will be FlipDraw: Mondrian, our new Flip ’n Color game designed by Rosco Schock and inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian. It’s set to make its retail debut this fall, but backers will have the chance to get it early — and at a discount. In this game, players use a set of color‑and‑rectangle prompts to build a balanced composition in Mondrian’s style, loosely following the kinds of constraints he might have set for himself. It plays anywhere from 1 to 100 people, and the box includes enough crayons for six players. The retail price will be around $20, but backers can pick it up for $15, and only in the pledge manager.

The Last Three Days
about 2 months ago – Mon, Apr 20, 2026 at 05:17:24 AM

Good morning, Backers!

It has been a wild ride. I know Chris attended the opening of his own curated show in New York this weekend, featuring a ton of other artists too! He leaves for California soon for Collected Con. I think there are still tickets available if you are in the neighborhood.

I've been working on getting files updated for this game, and the next two games...and doing some additional playtesting. I'm excited for the prospect of getting this game completed and ready for you - and I have a few good surprises for you that will appear in the pledge manager!

In case you missed it, check out what they said about Concrete Canvas on the Dice Tower's Crowdsurfing show:

DICE TOWER - CROWDSURFING

Let's push to hit the next stretch goal and finish strong!

Thanks for your Support

David Abelson

ATTENTION: What City/Country should we feature in the next Concrete Canvas game? Is there an artist or artists from that city that we should feature? Do you have a favorite game designer, you'd like to design it? Post in the comments!!! Let's talk about it.

PS. I'd like to invite you to check out the Kickstarter campaign for Garden Club. The publisher does great work making nice quality games. I am friends with the co-designers and, in fact, one of them designed the solo mode for Concrete Canvas!

Half Way There...and Some Exciting Updates
about 2 months ago – Fri, Apr 10, 2026 at 06:53:13 PM

Good evening everyone. As of 10am ET tomorrow we will have hit the Half Way Point for this campaign and as of this update we have almost 300 Backers and have raised over $31,000 to make Concrete Canvas a reality. This is an amazing amount of support from the community, for Chris's art and for my game Design and I want to see us reach even higher.

It is really hard to reach out to the parts of the community that don't know about the project but I've been thinking a lot about ways to make things a little more interesting (or encouraging?). I know we said that there weren't going to be stretch goals but...

I have decided to add a few stretch goals to the campaign. If you don't know what Stretch Goals are:

basically they are an incentive that WE offer to the backers (you) to help push the campaign funding higher. If we hit the stated goals, it unlocks more or better things for the game you already pledged for without increasing your cost!

So, In this update I will share the first three stretch goals AND I have included a Poll about a later one we're tossing around. OK? Here goes:

Stretch Goal 1 - Unlocks at $35,000

Better Player Boards

Increase the quality of the Player Boards in the Standard Game (Street Level) and the Standard Expansion from thin Cardstock to Punchboard.

Stretch Goal 2 - Unlocks at $40,000

Better Component Tray

Add a Thermoformed Plastic Tray to the Deluxe Edition (Crew, Legend, Icon Levels)

Stretch Goal 3 - Unlocks at $50,000

More Chris RWK Art

Every Backer of Physical Reward Levels (Street, Crew, Legend, Icon) and higher will receive a 6" x 6" Print of one of Chris RWK's paintings created for the game

Final Words

I hope stretch goals will help increase our excitement level and help everyone to reach out a little further to find others who will love this game as much as you do! I've got at least 2 or 3 more after these and the following poll is for number 5 or 6. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Check out the Poll.

I hope you're doing great and I'm looking forward to getting Concrete Canvas into your hands
